FILMING LOCATIONS:
Cricket St Thomas is most notably assosciated with the long running TV Series "To The Manor Born", written by Peter Spence and starring Penleope Keith and Peter Bowles. At the height of its sucess in 1979 it pulled in 23.95 million viewers and which was the highest for any non-live event.
The main house was used for a lot of the exterior shots with the interiors being shot in studios. The Old Lodge, which on screen was at the end of the Manor's drive, is in fact about one mile away and called West Lodge. A false gatepost was installed to help the illusion that the two are close together.
With over 1,000 acres of unspoilt rolling Somerset Countryside there are plenty of locations including both traditonal and modern farm buildings, lakes and woodland areas.
